Mill Dam, South Shields

Aug 13, 2019

Our 10th outing of the season took us to the Mill Dam area of South Shields.

It’s an area on the south bank of the Tyne, within sight of the cranes of the Tyne Dock to the east, and also the home of the Customs House and the Shields Ferry.

There’s also architecture with “The Word, National Centre for the Written Word” building being located here, and there’s various art installations heading east towards the mouth of the river.

The weather had been changeable over the previous couple of days, with torrential downpours on the Sunday, and not much better on the Monday, but we were all treated with a dry evening featuring clear skies and a sunset.
