Summer Nights Out… Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Aug 2, 2022

A new venue for us! Suggested by our very own Treasurer, Dave, it was an extremely good call. The sky had cleared and when we arrived, we were met with blue skies and fluffy white clouds. It was a tad windy, but this made for some exciting wave action just off the headland. The Lifeboat Station was having a practice session and their lifeboat was cruising around the bay, just itching to be photographed.

Newbiggin is a pretty little town, you can see the remnants of the region’s mining history being washed up on the beach in the form of black flakes mixed with the sands. Newbiggin’s bay is teeming with marine wildlife, a peaceful beach known for its glowing sunrises and fiery sunsets, and Sean Henry’s intriguing Couple sculpture that sits out at sea. We hoped that we would see the pod of dolphins that have been sighted along the coastline, but unfortunately we heard that they were further south… aaa well, maybe next time?

A good turnout from the club made it a very pleasant evening’s snapping!
